anne vanschothorst (1974)

As a classical trained harpist and autodidact composer, from the Netherlands -
Den Haag - I am working for an young and creative company harpandsoul.com
I started playing the harp in 1983 (concerts, background music, .. ) and I am still playing,
but since 2007 (after some live changing moments and lots of soul searching) I decided
to become a professional musician; a recording harpist, composer and music producer.

I play and create original and instant music and I am involved in art fusion projects:
for poetry projects/visuals /film /cartoons/ installations I compose and produce the music.

For harpandsoul.com I have produced cds that went ont he air on podcasts and (inter)
national radio stations. My latest cd has been honored with the great indie award 2008
for excellent production and songwriting. My compositions can be heard in several film
productions, video installations, games, documentaries and as intro music on websites.

'A bird came flying' has been viewed more than 300.000 times on youtube.
This piece has been licensed by many film makers, artists and a major indie license catalogue.

Style
'The compositions have relation with minimal music; composers like Yann Tiersen and Philip Glass could be heard in Anne's work.'
At the moment I am working on a minimalharp project; harp solo and harp and percussion.

The authentic sound of the harp is the base for my sound recordings.

Current
The US tv program Bridging heaven and earth has asked me to produce a musicvideo; it will be broadcasted worldwide.

For harpandsoul.com the editing phase of my minimalharp music has completed; next step will be mastering/mixing and finetuning by engineer Thijs de Melker - teejay.nl

I have been asked to provide minimal music to a DVD project.

The sheet music of 'A bird came flying' will be ready this years summer and published in fall 2010.

Recently, for KUNST in BEDRIJF I have become the manager. I can be booked to realize artistic music movies.
