Biografie van The Dreamside
The Dreamside have been on the gothic rock scene for now 15 years. Blending elements of gothic and metal music with female vocals and lyrics commonly centred on themes like the supernatural, The Dreamside have built a strong fan base thanks to their four previous albums In 2009 The Dreamside signed with Lion Music for their 5th studio album Lunar Nature which will be released on December the 4th.
The music of Lunar Nature can be described as atmospherical gothic rock with a good mixture of heavy guitars, electronical elements and a proper shot of alternative rock. All this interwoven with Kemi Vitas remarkable voice and her unique way to express emotions in very personal lyrics.
Lunar Nature continues were the predecessor Spin Moon Magic ended. The album is full of diversity and therefore once more a typical output from The Dreamside.
Lunar Nature was recorded at the Excess studios in Rotterdam (After Forever, Gorefest) and contains 15 tracks including Seeds of pain, a collaboration with the US act Information Society and Unspoken, again with guest appearances by guitarist Karl Fieldhous of Born from Pain and Kenji Siratori. The album has been mastered by Kai Blankenberg at the Skyline Studios in Düsseldorf/Germany (Paradise Lost, Doro). Together with Eva de Winkel, The Dreamside produced a animation video to the track Sternenkind.
BAND BACKGROUND
The Dreamside, formed by vocalist Kemi Vita (Satyrian) in 1994, opened their account the same year with Pale Blue Lights (Nuclear Blast). Consistent and well-received live shows helped spread the word about the band and resulted in a follow-up release in 1996, a rather surprising dance mini-album entitled Nuda Veritas.
1997s Apaika revealed both the power and the diversity of the band with acoustic material, guitars, grand piano, some ethnic influences, flute, didgeridoo, different forms of percussion, all mixed with some heavier songs.
The album Mirror Moon finally appeared in May 2001, and marked something of a new start for the band. Guitars were a little louder and an album was created where metal, gothic, electro and ambient elements became equal..
2005 saw the release of Spin Moon Magic and a single, Open Your Eyes, taken from it. A masterpiece of the Metal Female Voices genre, is how UK metal magazine Fireworks described it: a truly outstanding album which moves you from the depths of despair to full-on dance-floor mania.
In 2007 The Dreamside celebrated their 13th anniversary by releasing The 13th Chapter, a remix album with 13 tracks featuring contributes from acts like Angels and Agony, Lunascape, Satyrian and Vigilante as well as duets with 18Summers, Born from Pain and the Japanese poet Kenji Siratori.
