Biografie van Steppe

STEPPE is a project by Lies Steppe and Patrick Steenaerts. STEPPE’s music has so far been a well-kept secret which came gradually to life during many long nights. The result shows a surprisingly strong pop sound, but always with a twist. Lies Steppe presents radio programmes for Klara, the VRT’s cultural radio (Dutch-speaking Belgian national radio). In Laika on Sunday nights she offers music from the darkest corners of Klara’s CD collection.STEPPE is a project by Lies Steppe and Patrick Steenaerts. In Laika on Sunday nights she offers music from the darkest corners of Klara’s CD collection. She is also pianist Jef Neve’s co-host in Neve, Klara’s live jazz programme. Patrick Steenaerts is producer, plays guitars, makes arrangements and is the source of many appealing sounds that speak to your imagination. Fiddling around with these songs at home gives you plenty of time for experimenting and welcomes a certain amount of serendipity. Much care goes into the sound of STEPPE, with a notable preference for the old over the new. And a good rhythm section makes all the difference. German bass player Werner Lauscher made his mark in and out of jazz, while drummer Mario Goossens is the driving force behind Trigger Finger. He has also played with Arno and Hooverphonic. STEPPE couldn’t have dreamt of a better guest vocalist than Mauro Pawlowski. His presence produced a heart-swelling duet with Lies. DEBUT ALBUM STEPPE OUT NOW.
