Biografie van Note to Amy

Note to Amy doesn’t like to be pigeonholed. The five members are influenced by such a wide array of musical styles that they just had to come up with something unique. Punkrock, metal, emo, heavy rock… it’s all there. And so are the soaring melodies, crushing riffs, pounding drums, catchy vocals and dark lyrics. This Dutch band doesn’t exactly take the easy way out. The members got together around the summer of 2005 and almost immediately started playing live.Note to Amy doesn’t like to be pigeonholed. The members got together around the summer of 2005 and almost immediately started playing live. They soon did lots of gigs with acts like Coheed And Cambria (US), Silverstein (CAN), Cancer Bats (CAN), The Draft (US), The Hard-Ons (AUS) en Samiam (US) in Dutch venues like Melkweg (Amsterdam), Tivoli (Utrecht), Bibelot (Dordrecht) and W2 (Den Bosch).

Note to Amy’s appearance didn’t stay unnoticed. The band did some demo recordings in 2006 and gained a feature in Dutch rock zine Up Magazine. Three songs were used for the MTV show 6pack. Mrs. Insane even got the band to win the Dutch title in online contest Burnout Bandslam (Electronics Arts). On top of that, the guys were praised because of their energetic live shows.

The band entered the BigMouth Studios (Nijmegen) in the spring of 2007 and recorded its first E.P. (The Lady’s First Song). The record was released in September and got raving reviews in Dutch magazines like OOR, Live XS, Aardschok and Rock Tribune. The song Tomorrow Starts Where Sorrow Ends was featured on the 2007 edition of Up Magazine..s Summer Sampler. Following the E.P. the band played a fair deal of shows in 2007 and 2008.

2009 was all about the band’s first full length album. Note to Amy just finished the recordings of Midnight Arsons/Morning Ghosts at the Split Second Sound studios (Textures, Autumn, New Pokerface, Intwine) in Amsterdam. The record will be released in the beginning in 2010. Watch out for some of the most energetic, catchy and hard rocking songs you’ll hear all year!
