Biografie van Niels Bijl and Hans-Erik Dijkstra
Niels Bijl (Enschede 1971) studied with Arno Bornkamp and Johan van der Linden at the Conservatorium in Enschede, graduating in 1998 as recipient of the Dagblad Tubantia Soloist Prize as well as the Kunstkring Meester-Gezel Prize. He has been very active in chamber music for the last 15 years, in saxophone quartets and in unique ensembles such as duo's with pianist Hans-Erik Dijkstra, accordionist Gertie Bruin, recorder player Ronald Moelker and The Four Baritones. His premiere performance as a soloist was in the Enschede Muziekcentrum in 1999, performing Frank Martin's Ballade for Tenor saxophone and Orchestra. Since May 2000 he has been a member of the world famous Aurelia Saxophone Quartet. As well as this Niels Bijl regularly performs with all of the professional orchestras of The Netherlands, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as with other internationally renowned orchestras such as Anima Eterna. Recently he was invited to play in the 2007 tour of Sir Georg Soltis/Valery Gergievs World Orchestra for Peace. Through all of these activities Niels Bijl has had the opportunity to give concerts and masterclasses over practically all of Europe, as well as Japan, Australia, Canada and America. Niels Bijl teaches exclusively at the Music School in Hengelo.
Hans-Erik Dijkstra (29 juni 1969) volgde zijn muzikale opleiding aan het Twents Conservatorium te Enschede. Hij studeerde piano bij Tamara Pospiszyl en compositie bij David Rowland. In 1991 sloot hij zijn studie Docerend Musicus (D.M.) cum laude af. Hans-Erik zette zijn studie voort bij Herman Uhlhorn en Alexander Warenberg aan de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten te Utrecht. In 1994 verwierf hij daar zijn diploma Uitvoerend Musicus.
Tijdens zijn studie maakte hij als begeleider van koren en ensembles vele buitenlandse reizen en gaf hij met name als begeleider van zangers en instrumentalisten vele concerten. Vanaf 1995 werkte Hans-Erik als freelance begeleider voor de conservatoria van Enschede, Rotterdam en Utrecht en werd hij aangesteld als co-repetitor (docent begeleiding) aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium te Den Haag. Hans-Erik is sinds 2000 pianodocent aan de Muziekschool te Veenendaal. Daarnaast is hij vaste begeleider van het Nijmeegs Mannenkoor, Rijnstad Vocaal Theater te Arnhem, het Hengelo's Mannenkoor en Operettekoor "Die Fledermaus" te Arnhem. Naast deze vaste werkzaamheden treedt Hans-Erik ook regelmatig op als solist bij orkesten en als kamermuziekspeler.
Door de jaren heen begeleidde Hans-Erik vele muzikale talenten, maar ook bekende zangers zoals o.a. Henk Poort, Marco Bakker, Enst-Daniël Smit, Arjan Blanken, violist Daniël Rowland en vele anderen. Sinds 2001 werkt Hans-Erik regelmatig voor het Radio Symfonieorkst.
