Ian was born and raised in the industrial heart of Germany, the "Ruhrgebiet... With its straightforward culture, you live, learn and play music the way things really are. He started playing guitar at the age of 10 and never stopped. In his early years he spent most of his time learning traditional styles of the early 20th century instead of shopping for the latest trends. Music, his best friend and companion, has played an important role within his family; "His dad on drums, his cousin on bass and himself on guitar is the first band he can remember.Ian was born and raised in the industrial heart of Germany, the "Ruhrgebiet... He started playing guitar at the age of 10 and never stopped. In his early years he spent most of his time learning traditional styles of the early 20th century instead of shopping for the latest trends.
Music, his best friend and companion, has played an important role within his family; "His dad on drums, his cousin on bass and himself on guitar is the first band he can remember... From then on he devoted even more of his life to music, predominantly Blues and traditional American songwriting.
He has a deep passion for nearly all the blue sounds that originate from the Delta up to Chicago, from Chicago to Texas, from Texas down to Nashville. He has a deep respect for musicians who understand the magic that appears between the notes and between words - musicians like the Rolling Stones, John Lee Hooker, Albert Collins, Lucinda Williams, Canned Heat, Bruce Springsteen, Steve Earl, just to name a few."
After spending a short period of time in LA he moved to the Netherlands to study contemporary music and guitar, graduating in 2006. He had played with many bands, Solo Artists and performers such as Danny Vera with whom he scored two Number one Hits and had lots of Radio and TV appearances. In 2005, he felt it was time to launch his solo-career and started working on his debut album ..Jewels In A Box...

Ton Engels, a former lecturer and mentor of his was touched by a few songs he heard on a sample of the album. He asked him if he would be intrested in finishing the album together, Ian's answer beeing ..Definitely yes!...
Ian wanted to create a piece of art that completely represents himself and all aspects of his musical talents. While growing up, he had never imagined it would make him travel all around this planet at last. The “Jewels In A Box” were recorded in the Netherlands, Germany, U.S.A. and Australia.
